Number 8: The Frankfurt Four in Germany Frankfurt has one of the most impressive skylines in all of Europe, which is why it has earned the nickname "MeinHattan", as a reference to New York's Manhattan. The newest addition to Frankfurt's ever growing skyline is a complex of Four high-rise towers connected by a shared base. The main attraction of the Four-Tower complex is the 233-meter tall Tower 1, making it the third tallest skyscraper in the country. Even though the project will be finished in 2024, the Tower 1 has already been sold for $1.6 billion, making it the most expensive building ever sold in Germany.

Tower 1 along with the smaller 100 meter Tower 4 will be used as office spaces while Towers 2 and 3 are planned as residential units. And as with all major housing projects in Frankfurt, they will have a 30% share for social housing. So the dream of living in the clouds can be enjoyed by people with different financial backgrounds. Number 7: Legacy Tower -19 pandemic changed the way of life around the world and this under construction skyscraper is the first to embrace that reality in its design. The project is called Legacy Tower and was planned in Miami even before the pandemic. While it was originally focused on medical tourists making their way to Florida, things changed once Covid became the new norm. The developers adjusted the project design to make it the world's first "pandemic-ready" skyscraper. So what makes the Legacy Tower 'Pandemic-Ready'? The tower will feature cleaning robots and voice-operated elevators to minimize human contact.

Even if a visitor gets sick, there will be dedicated quarantine facilities and health professionals on hand for a safe recovery. In addition to that the tower will also feature an on-site pharmacy and surgery rooms in cases of medical emergencies. Construction on the legacy tower started in 2021 and it will be ready by 2025. Hopefully, Cowidlo-119 will no longer be a problem by that time, but the Legacy Tower will ensure that real estate adjusts to similar health emergencies in the future. Number 6: The One Toronto The 298 meter tall,, has been Canada's tallest building since 1976. Going into 2022, two buildings are in a race to beat that record. The One Toronto is already under construction and will be built at a cost of one billion dollars. It was originally planned to be 308 meters tall, enough to surpass the First Canadian.

Place. Construction on the skyscraper started in 2017 and the excavation work was completed in 2019. However, progress was halted soon after due to permit issues. Toronto's zoning laws allow developers to exceed height and density regulations for skyscrapers on the condition of contributing towards the community. The city issued a stop-work order on any construction above the ground until the developer dedicated a community park. Progress was made on the off-site park, but work was stopped once again when Toronto banned any non-essential construction work in light of the pandemic. After almost a year of inactivity, conditional permits were granted in August 2020, and above-ground construction began. In the meantime, another skyscraper with a planned height of 312 meters, was proposed just a few blocks away.

Not to be left behind, the planners behind the One applied for a height increase in 2021, taking its total height to 338 meters. The One is currently the Tallest skyscraper under construction in Canada and with construction hurdles out of the way, the One is set to open in 2023. Number 5: Ciel Tower Dubai is home to the world's tallest skyscraper but did you know that it also has the world's tallest hotel? The 356 meter tall Gevora Hotel became the world's tallest hotel upon completion in 2018.

But as we move into 2022, Dubai

Is set to break its own record with the 366-meter tall.

Ceil Tower at the Dubai Marina. Construction on the Ciel Tower started in 2018. More than 3000 tons of steel were used for the skyscraper's foundations providing a solid base for its curved exterior. The completed tower will have a silver facade while its interiors are inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi or "the appreciation of the imperfect.".

The tower's rooftop will feature the world's tallest infinity pool and a glass observation deck will offer views of some of Dubai's iconic landmarks such as the man-made Palm Jumeirah. The construction on more than 40 of the planned 81 floors is complete and the tower is scheduled to open in 2023. Number 4: Iconic Tower Egypt is famous for its gigantic Pyramids, the all powerful Pharaohs, and all its ancient history. But modern Egypt will be just as Iconic with the addition of Africa’s new tallest skyscraper. Egypt is building a New Administrative Capital 50 kilometers to the east of Cairo to deal with the growing population and the resulting congestion in the old capital. The 385 meter tall Iconic Tower will become the centerpiece of this new development. The Tower has left behind Africa’s previous tallest building, The Leonardo and is more than twice the size of the Cairo Tower. Construction of the Iconic Tower began in May 2018 and it had structurally topped out by July 2021.

The tower’s design is inspired by the ancient Pharaonic monuments. It supports a glass exterior and a concrete internal structure which is now complete. A Chinese Construction company is set to complete the Tower this year with funding from the. Egyptian Government. Number 3: JPMorgan Chase World Headquarters In February 2018, the famous American investment bank JPMorgan Chase announced the demolition of its former headquarters. The original 216 meter tall building was completed in 1960 and was one of the earliest modern skyscrapers. It was designed by a Woman in a male-dominated field and remained the tallest skyscraper to be designed by a woman for more than 50 years. Because of the historical significance, there was an effort to designate the building as a New York City landmark.

Such a designation would have protected the building from being destroyed. However, the request was denied. Demolition work finally started in 2020, but it wasn’t a straightforward task since the building was located in the heart of one of the busiest office markets in the world. The use of explosives wasn’t allowed and every floor had to be dismantled piece by piece. The first step was to remove any harmful substances from the building before the demolition began. The building was then enclosed with a netting to contain the debris. All windows and doors were removed which was followed by the process of disassembling the floors using hand held tools and demolition robots. Steel beams and columns were the last to be removed using welding torches and the whole building was dismantled by June 2021.

It is now the tallest demolished building in the world, overtaking the Singer Building demolition in 1968. The old headquarters will now be replaced by a new 434 meter tall skyscraper that can house more than 15000 employees. The new skyscraper will be built at a cost of 3 billion dollars making it the third most expensive building in the city behind the 4 billion dollar One World Trade Center and the One Vanderbilt that cost 3.2 billion dollars. The JP Morgan Chase World Headquarters will also become the fourth tallest building in. New York upon completion in 2024. Number 2: The Ascent Tower In terms of height, this building can’t be compared with the previous concrete and glass structures that will become major attractions in skylines around the world. Therefore the fascinating Ascent Tower in Milwaukee, USA will claim another title. Once completed it will be the tallest skyscraper made out of Timber wood, reaching a height of 86 meters.

Wooden buildings are not very tall but can be much more practical than concrete structures. They are created using a process called mass timber in which layers of wood are pressed together to create columns, beams and other building frame components. Mass timber structures can be built 25% faster than concrete buildings. They cost less and the construction process has a much lower carbon footprint. The Ascent Tower will cost around 100 million dollars and will be completed in 2023. While wooden buildings haven't reached the heights similar to concrete and glass structures, that might not be the case for long. Project W350 is a wooden skyscraper proposed in Japan which will be 350 meters tall. Japan faces the most earthquakes in the world and since timber structures are known to be more resistant to earthquakes, the proposed project could be a big win for the architecture in the country.
