Restaurant Architectural Design Project
We have developed architectural design documentation for a restaurant.
ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS FOR RESTAURANT
Architectural and construction solutions are developed within the leased premises based on layout plans and equipment arrangements approved by the restaurant's construction department as part of the technical specifications.
Explanations
Layout Solution

The restaurant occupies an area of 222 m². The layout solution meets corporate requirements and standards. The project involves cladding existing partitions with corrugated sheets on metal framing. This solution optimally meets fire safety requirements while being lightweight to avoid additional load on the floor structure.
The finished floor level of the shopping mall gallery is taken as zero level. Floor finishes in all rooms are existing porcelain tiles. The design load on the mall floor does not exceed 400 kg/m².
Existing drywall suspended ceilings are maintained throughout. In the dining area, a grille ceiling section is replaced with an exposed ceiling. Lighting fixtures are installed on the ceiling, with compositional placement ensuring required illumination levels and creating an aesthetic atmosphere. The lighting system must comply with current illumination standards.

The ceiling plenum is used for routing engineering utilities:
- air ducts,
- electrical wiring
- and security/fire alarm systems.
The energy consumption system must comply with allocated technical specifications limits. Construction contractors must prepare and submit certificates and inspection reports for concealed works to the management company. Cover the entrance with banners during construction works.
Design and Planning Solutions
Layout solutions and equipment arrangements, based on owner-provided plans and approved by the General Director and Construction Department Head, may be refined during design after site surveys, subject to client approval of all modifications.
All building envelope options must meet requirements for structural strength, thermal performance, environmental properties, and other material characteristics, while allowing proper execution of finishing and installation works according to standards and technical specifications.
The live load on floors must be at least 500 kg/m². The load on roof structures with ventilation equipment must be at least 400 kg/m². Internal partitions are designed using double-layer moisture-resistant drywall with stud spacing not exceeding 400 mm, brick, or other certified materials meeting sanitary and fire safety requirements.
Install protective bumpers behind cooking equipment lines at 800 mm height from finished floor level, spanning the entire equipment length. Bumpers must be at least 120 mm wide, made of wood clad with 2 mm aluminum sheet. Not required for island-style equipment arrangements.
Walls and partitions must support hanging equipment weighing at least 200 kg. Use moisture-resistant plywood (minimum 12 mm thick) instead of inner drywall layer for shelf mounting between 1.0-2.5 m height.
Finishes for kitchen, washroom, storage, and other service areas must comply with sanitary requirements for food service establishments. Finishing materials may be refined during design with client approval.
Provide openings, conduits, and embedded pipes in walls and floors for routing power cables, with dimensions and locations specified on working drawings.
Provide openings, shafts, and chases for HVAC, plumbing, and drainage systems with dimensions and locations specified. Strengthen openings with sleeves, lintels, or framing where necessary.
CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS DESIGN
The project includes waterproofing for all production, utility, restroom, and where required, dining area floors. The waterproofing membrane must extend at least 150 mm up walls from finished floor level.
Passageways, corridors, and exits must meet evacuation route requirements with minimum 1.3 m width. Ensure 1.3 m evacuation passage is maintained when arranging dining area furniture.
Interior doors must be plastic or wood with moisture-resistant coating, preferably in metal frames. Fire-rated doors require metal frames with minimum E2-60 fire resistance. Storage room doors must be Type II fire-rated (E1-30). Doors adjacent to the dining area must match the dining area design concept.
Emergency exit doors must open outward, have minimum 0.6 hour fire resistance, and include plastic information signs (150x200-300 mm) with room names according to room schedules.
Service room entrance doors must be solid metal or aluminum thermal-break profile with metal frames, powder-coated enamel, and four mounting points. Lock mechanisms must be high-security type with round 20 mm diameter handles.
Service and production area windows must be fixed, using thermal-break aluminum or plastic profiles with powder-coated finish. Service windows must be at least 600x700 mm (height x width) with sill height 1000-1200 mm from interior floor level.
Window colors must match the building facade or design specifications. All external windows and doors must have double glazing with minimum thermal resistance R=0.5 °C/W or comply with current energy efficiency standards.
Dining area entrance doors must have glazing in the upper half, using thermal-break aluminum or plastic profiles. Glazing must use double-paned laminated glass or equivalent safety glass with protective film.
Dining area and restroom windows must be fixed with thermal-break profiles and double glazing. Restroom windows must use frosted glass where applicable.
All external glazing must feature explosion-protection film class A1 DV2. Glass units must have manufacturer labeling indicating protection class.
Window Sills
External window sills must be:
- Option 1 - aluminum with powder-coated enamel matching window color
- Option 2 - 20-40 mm polished granite or 8 mm porcelain tile matching building facade
The project includes three ceiling types:
- Armstrong-type suspended ceilings with 600x600/1200 mm tiles in general areas
- 600x600 mm aluminum metal ceilings in kitchen areas
- Painted concrete slabs (no suspended ceiling) in storage areas with clear height under 4 m
- Moisture-resistant painted drywall in staff changing/shower rooms
- Drywall or design-specified ceilings in dining areas
Restaurants may use nearby mall restroom facilities for patrons. Staff may use mall service restrooms if available and accessible.
All equipment and materials must be certified in Russia with sanitary and fire safety certificates. Contractors must provide material certificates upon project completion.
The project includes specifications for all construction materials.
Finishing Works Notes
All dimensions on drawings are in millimeters. Verify all dimensions and elevations on site before work begins. The existing finished floor level is taken as +0.000.
Remove existing grille ceiling sections in the dining area. Floor loads must not exceed 400 kg/m². LED displays must be spaced 3-4 cm apart, centered on the feature wall.
Wall-mounted shelf hooks (85 mm long) are not part of the hanging equipment. Maximum one person allowed in staff room simultaneously. Cable routing within landlord's walls is prohibited.
New partitions and wall cladding must comply with current regulations using certified metal framing and drywall systems. Partitions are built to +2.200 m height. Corrugated metal sheet cladding extends to +3.000 m height.
Install corrugated metal sheets with overlapping joints. Replace drywall with cement board in equipment mounting areas and display locations between +1.700 and +2.800 m heights.
Finishes extend to suspended ceiling level. Material certificates will be provided by contractor after construction. No finishing above suspended ceiling level.
Floor installation follows electrical works completion. Use L-shaped transition profiles for floor material joints. Floor loads must not exceed permitted limits.
Existing structural ceiling remains unchanged. Verify all dimensions on site. Coordinate discrepancies with project authors.
Emergency and evacuation lighting fixtures must be certified according to safety standards.
Install cable raceways at +3.200 m height. Route electrical cables within partition cavities. Leave minimum 500 mm free cable ends. Grooving columns is prohibited. Use cement board backing for outlet and equipment mounting.
Electrical works must strictly comply with electrical installation rules and fire safety regulations. All dining area outlets must have protective covers.
Adjust emergency lighting layout if insufficient illumination is found during construction. Connect video surveillance and visitor counters with CAT5e Ethernet cable.
Display case glass and door panels must have interior anti-shatter film protection. Install metal protective barriers on floor in front of store facade.
The signage consists of solid illuminated dimensional letters (70 mm total thickness):
- 3 mm milky acrylic face
- 3 mm foam PVC sides
- 5 mm PVC back panel
Mount signage on glass. Use LED clusters with lenses. Install 120W power supply above suspended ceiling. Use minimum adequate cable cross-section for signage lighting.
